24 Nov Bamboo participatory design workshop for children
Last 18th September, as a celebration of the World Bamboo Day, MANA bamboo with the support of AsIB, organized the participatory workshop for the children’s park that will be built at the Esperanza en Acción space. It was a fun and creative saturday morning, with 25 children and family members discovering bamboo as a sustainable construction material.
The 18th September 2021 started with a beautiful sunny morning in Cadiz, perfect to celebrate the World Bamboo Day.
At 10h00, 25 children and family members arrived at the Fundación Esperanza en Acción’ selected space, under a tree, in front of the eco garden, ready to start dreaming and designing together the best children park that they would love to enjoy in that place.
Eva, MANA bamboo founder, introduced the bamboo as an excellent sustainable construction and design material, and guided the participants of the workshop through the design process, encouraging them to interact with the bamboo and the context.
Some kids felt more comfortable designing with drawings, but most of them were excited to experiment creating beautiful models, using bamboo sticks and other materials.
After 4 hours, all participants presented their designs with the drawings and models, and left the space excited looking forward to coming back and enjoying the bamboo park.
From all proposals presented, the final design is being developed, which will be built in phases, following the available budget for Esperanza en Accion Foundation.
In order to make it happen, Eva and other AsIB members will coordinate the bamboo park construction, inviting all people from the area willing to learn how to use bamboo as a construction material.
